Low Carbon Futures
The project aims to encourage innovation and sustainability in micro enterprises to enhance the economic performance of Powys businesses and develop markets in the following areas:
- Supporting measures to improve renewable energy and energy efficiencies within Powys, including funding feasibility studies and novel approaches to renewable technologies
- Support for encouraging Transition Town initiatives and climate change adaptation plans in Powys towns and communities
- Carbon foot-printing – providing the opportunity for local micro enterprises to adopt energy saving measures, or encouraging novel approaches to ‘carbon foot-printing’
- ‘New from Old’ – identifying new and innovative approaches and methods for recycling
- Innovative energy solutions
- Innovative waste solutions
Individuals, businesses, voluntary or community groups and social enterprises up to the scale of micro enterprise (10 employees or less) are encouraged to apply. The project idea must be novel either in approach, concept, geographic area or sector concerned. Projects supported to date include an anaerobic digester on the micro scale, heat recovery from a manufacturing process to off set fuel costs and ‘carbon’ and various feasibility studies.
